WEDDING GOWN RESTORATION

Vintage Gown Restoration Specialists

Vintage gowns require additional attention to detail to treat latent stains and delicate fabrics.  Whether it is yellowed from age or has stains leftover from the wedding, our gown specialists are specially trained to restore your gown to its original beauty.

Can the dream of wearing a vintage wedding gown be salvaged?

Yes! Maybe you’ve dreamed of wearing your grandmother’s wedding gown since you first saw how beautiful she looked in her wedding portrait. Or perhaps you’ve found a vintage gem worthy of your big day. Whatever the age or condition of your gown, Kite’s specializes in creating living heirlooms by restoring antique and vintage bridal gowns to their true color without damage to delicate fabrics or dyes. We can remove stains and discoloration that ordinary dry cleaners cannot.

Heirloom & vintage gown restoration is our specialty.

Members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists use the safest, most effective methods ever developed for restoring wedding gowns and all family heirloom fabrics. Please read our specialty services page for more information on restoration of other vintage pieces. You can trust us to give your special vintage garment the individual care and attention it deserves.

Vintage Veils

If you would like to honor a family member by including a treasured wedding or communion accessory in your wedding, let us remove the ugly brown stains and yellowing from your vintage wedding veil, communion veil, ring pillow, or wedding pouch. Although not every vintage wedding veil or communion veil, ring pillow, or wedding pouch can be restored, we can usually predict whether the project will be successful, and there is never a charge for evaluation.

When restored, vintage Brussels lace veils and vintage veils trimmed with Chantilly, Alençon, and other types of lace are lovely with today’s wedding gowns. Most vintage lace is made from sturdy cotton that can be safely returned to the true color. Point de Gaze (also called Rosepoint) and Duchesse, for example, nearly always restore beautifully.

Some vintage lace is appliquéd onto silk illusion, which is often too fragile for restoration, but the lace can be restored and then sewn onto nylon or polyester net.

Not all choose to wear the original tiara that is attached to the veil. You may prefer to remove the tiara from the veil and attach the restored veil to a comb. Or you may ask us to remove the lace from the tiara, restore it, and create a new ornament from the restored lace.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Ashley N.

Restoration

I used kites wedding gown specialist to restore the original color of my mothers wedding dress, so I could get it altered for myself. Let me tell you, the dress looked just as white as the pictures I have of my mother wearing it over 35 years ago! They were also fast, friendly and answered all my questions and concerns while putting my needs first. I absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs their vintage gown restored
